The ear piece is big enough to fit around all types of ears. Just putting the headphones over my ears even without music playing dramatically muffles out the world around you. I'd been concerned that it would be too small for my boyfriend given all the reviews for people with larger heads, but he thought it was fine. I thought only Bose's QuietComfort could do this (had tried it out in Best Buy stores and was amazed), but Sennheiser's got it down too. Great price for the quality too. Warning - the volume of the headphones start out pretty loud even when you have your volume at a low level, so start out really low and slowly turn the volume up to avoid being blasted by sound.Overall, we're happy with the purchase. I'd buy another Sennheiser for myself next time.
o These headphones fit comfortably, but tight, so they become uncomfortable over time.o The sound quality and noise cancellation is superb.o WARNING: There is no inline volume control and the sound can come across VERY LOUD. I have to be very careful to set the computer volume low before putting the headphones on to avoid becoming deaf.
The only drawback is their size. I'm really enjoying my Sennheiser HD-280 Professional Headphones. They sound great, are comfortable and fold nicely. You'll look ridiculous walking around town, yet ideal for long rides or home use. Enjoy, I have.
The sound is good. Just don't do what I did and buy in inferior portable CD player that stops the player due to even a small shock. It works well with my ipod.
The clarity, the bass, the fact they are closed so that no outside noise can be heard.this also keeps your music in(which makes for happy roommates, and in flight neighbors), I was completely elated. If I knew how much I would love listening to these headphones before I bought them I would have happily paid full price. I travel the globe for work as a stagehand. When on a 7 month tour the only thing you ever truly miss is privacy. If I was an upcoming/Hobbyist DJ I would have to say they would probably be a good choice. What I can say is that when you need to be able to hear your music in all the clarity and feel of a substantial home stereo system while on an airplane, hotel room or bus then these are what you want. When I first listened to the HD 280 Pro I heard the music almost for the first time. Though the size is why they are so comfortable to wear and also why they sound so good. For audiophiles it is important to hear your favorite music w/o any interruptions.
They do feel well built, and soundly constructed. They are big. I am an audiophile by nature. As to their durability, I have only owned them for a month. This is my first pair of monitor quality headphones. So as to there quality for use in a sound studio, I cannot say. It makes them somewhat challenging to leave on your person when transitioning through an airport w/ a small messenger bag and medium backpack.
I would not change anything about this product. All in all if a quality listening experience while on the go is what you are looking for than these are your headphones.
